Behind Athlete in the Kitchen: A Family Project
It all began when my son Gianmarco—born in 2009 and a football player in the youth sector of an Italian professional club—was diagnosed with celiac disease. As a father, my first concern was simple: how could a 16-year-old, balancing school and daily training, continue to perform at his best without feeling limited by his diet?
We started studying, experimenting, and cooking together, searching for the right balance between the macronutrients needed to support his competitive athletic commitments and the taste a teenager craves while moving quickly between the classroom and the pitch. This project was not born in a laboratory, but in our kitchen. Gianmarco is the athlete who tests every recipe during a typical training week; I am the father who supports him in making every meal simple, fast, and performance-driven.
We created Athlete in the Kitchen to prove that celiac disease is not an obstacle, but an opportunity to learn how to eat better and play stronger.
